Barktoberfest 2025

Join us as BARKTOBERFEST continues to be the largest pet adoption event in Highlands County. Come and see all of the dogs and cats from young to old and everything in between just waiting for a forever home. Several non profit local rescues will have many animals to adopt. Bring the family and your leashed pets to participate in a day filled with something for everyone and their pets. Shop the pet related vendors, food trucks, Pet Blessings, Pet Photos, Nail Clippings, Raffles, 50/50, demonstrations and so much more.

Heel Together Adoption Event

The Heel Together Academy allows dogs from HCSO Animal Services to "go to prison" at Avon Park Correctional Institution (AvPCI) to learn basic manners, obedience, and leash walking with inmate handler teams. Our currently available dogs will be at Pet Supermarket for a "meet and greet" adoption event.

 

Adoption fees are $125 and dogs will be able to go home when they have completed their training at AvPCI. Adoption inquiries should be directed to Animal Services at 863-402-6730
