Private Training Field Session Contract

This Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into on {{date}} by and between the undersigned client (“Client”) and Brook’s Dog Training Academy (“BDTA” or “Trainer”).

This Agreement governs all dog training and related services provided by BDTA to the Client and shall remain in effect until terminated in writing by either party.

1. Purpose of Training Field Sessions

Private Training Field Sessions provide clients with access to a secure, fenced training environment where they may practice training exercises that may not be feasible at home, such as recall training, off-leash work, or other structured training activities.

These sessions are intended for training purposes only and are not dog park visits, playdates, or unstructured recreation periods.

Clients are expected to actively work with and supervise their dog during the entire session.

2. Scheduling Requirements

All training field sessions must be scheduled in advance.

Clients may not arrive at the training location without a confirmed appointment. Unscheduled visits are not permitted.

Each reservation provides access to the training field for the specific time period booked, typically in one-hour increments.

3. Arrival & Waiting Policy

Training field sessions are generally scheduled for one dog at a time unless otherwise arranged by BDTA.

If a Client arrives early and another dog is currently using the training field, the Client must remain in their vehicle and wait until their scheduled time begins.

Clients should not enter the training area or approach other dogs currently in session.

This policy helps maintain a safe and controlled environment for all participants.

4. Trainer Presence

A representative of Brook’s Dog Training Academy will be present during training field sessions.

However, these sessions are not private training lessons unless specifically scheduled as such. Clients remain responsible for handling and managing their dog during the session.

5. Owner Responsibility

Client acknowledges that they remain fully responsible for the actions and behavior of their dog at all times.

Clients agree to:

  • Maintain control of their dog during the session
  • Actively supervise their dog at all times
  • Follow all instructions given by BDTA staff
  • Prevent their dog from approaching other dogs or people unless instructed otherwise
  • Immediately clean up after their dog

Allowing a dog to work off-leash may be appropriate depending on the training exercise; however, clients must remain attentive and engaged with their dog at all times.

Training field sessions are not intended for clients to release their dog and disengage from supervision.

6. Dog Park Prohibition

The BDTA training field is not a dog park.

These sessions are designed specifically for training and structured practice.

Even in situations where multiple dogs may be present (only when planned and approved in advance by BDTA), clients are expected to remain attentive and actively working with their dog. Dogs may not be allowed to freely interact without direction from the trainer.

7. Safety & Appropriate Use

BDTA reserves the right to end a session if a Client or dog is using the training field in an unsafe or inappropriate manner.

Examples may include:

  • Failure to supervise the dog
  • Allowing disruptive or dangerous behavior
  • Ignoring instructions from BDTA staff
  • Misuse of the training space

If a session is ended for safety reasons, refunds are not guaranteed.

8. Training Environment & Terrain Acknowledgment

Clients understand that the training field may include outdoor, natural ground surfaces that are not paved.

These conditions may include:

  • Grass or dirt surfaces
  • Uneven terrain
  • Holes or depressions
  • Mud, loose soil, or natural debris
  • Bugs, snakes, frogs, toads, or other wildlife
  • Other typical outdoor environmental conditions

Clients agree to wear comfortable, well-fitted footwear suitable for outdoor activity and remain aware of their surroundings.

Clients assume all risks associated with walking and handling dogs in these conditions and release BDTA and its representatives from liability related to slips, trips, falls, or injuries arising from the condition of the training environment.

9. Health & Vaccination Requirements

Client agrees that their dog:

  • Is current on required vaccinations as recommended by a veterinarian
  • Is free from contagious illness
  • Will not attend if showing signs of illness
  • Is not currently in heat

BDTA reserves the right to deny participation to dogs that appear ill.

10. Assumption of Risk

Client understands that working with dogs carries inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Dog bites or scratches
  • Unexpected dog behavior
  • Dogs escaping equipment
  • Slips, trips, or falls
  • Injuries caused by dogs pulling on leash

Client voluntarily assumes all risks associated with participation in training field sessions.

11. Payment & Cancellation Policy

Payment for training field sessions is required prior to the scheduled appointment unless otherwise agreed.

Clients who cannot attend their scheduled session should provide advance notice when possible. Missed appointments may not be refundable.

12. Hold Harmless & Indemnification

Client agrees to release, hold harmless, and indemnify BDTA, its owner, employees, assistants, representatives, and the training location from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

• The actions of the Client’s dog
• Participation in training field activities
• Injuries to persons or animals caused by the Client’s dog

This includes legal fees and costs associated with such claims.

13. Compliance With Property Rules

Clients agree to respect all posted signs, property boundaries, and instructions provided by BDTA or location staff.

Areas marked as restricted or off-limits must not be entered.

Failure to follow property rules may result in removal from the premises.

14. Photo & Media Release

Client grants BDTA permission to photograph or record video during training sessions for educational or promotional purposes.

If Client prefers that they or their dog not appear in photos or videos, they must notify BDTA in writing.

15. Electronic Signatures

Client agrees that an electronic signature on this Agreement shall be considered legally binding and equivalent to a handwritten signature.
