While these places are dog-friendly, dogs and their pawrents should follow general guidelines when in public settings.
- Dogs should not be aggressive towards people or other dogs
- Dogs should not disrupt the activities of the business or be a nuisance to other customers
- Dogs should be up to date on vaccinations
- Most locations require or prefer that your dog be on a flea, tick, and heartworm preventative
- Dogs should be trained to use the bathroom outside
- Always bring bags and pick up after your dog
- Dogs should be well-groomed
- Females in heat should stay at home
- Dogs should be in equipment that fits them appropriately and prevents escape
- Dogs should be on a leash at all times unless otherwise indicated
- Most, if not all, locations require or prefer you bring your dog on a plain leash and leave your retractable leash at home
- Some locations may have specific rules
- All locations require you to be attentive to your dog at all times, caring for their needs, and never leaving them unattended.
Highlands Hammock State Park
A beautiful space for a walk or jog surrounded by nature. There are several dog-friendly walking trails to explore. Being a "hammock", most of the park is heavily shaded by trees which makes for a pleasant walk on a warm day. Pack the mosquito repellent and make sure your dog has heartworm prevention.
